Miss Shankar is a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists and leads the Acute Gynaecology Service at Kingston Hospital in Surrey. She completed her higher specialist training in Obstetrics and gynaecology from the Trent region and London Deanery. She then spent two years as a research fellow in the Early Pregnancy Unit and Fetal Medicine Unit at the Royal Free Hospital in London. She Obtained the RCOG/RCR diploma in advanced obstetric ultrasound and the RCOG certificate of special skills training in gynaecological ultrasound. Miss Shankar is proficient in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound and performs herself the required ultrasound scans for patients under her care.
Research and Publications:
Miss Shankar has publications in reputed medical journals and her research area of interest includes early pregnancy, outpatient gynaecology, menstrual disorders and labour management. She is also interested in quality of life issues associated with consequences of birth and issues of women's choice in mode of delivery.
